AJF President Rashad Nabiyev Meets Members of Cadet and Junior National Teams

On 10 September, Azerbaijan Judo Federation (AJF) President Rashad Nabiyev met with members of the country’s cadet and junior national teams.

The Federation President congratulated the judoka on their results at the Cadet World Judo Championships, held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, from 20 to 23 August, and the Junior European Judo Championships, held in Podgorica, Montenegro, from 3 to 6 September. Rashad Nabiyev emphasized that, alongside the results, the character demonstrated by the athletes throughout the competitions, particularly in challenging moments, was equally important.

The AJF President noted that these results reflect the systematic and comprehensive work carried out within the Federation and highlighted the contribution of the coaching staff, medical team, other specialists and all Federation employees to these achievements. He stated that the main objective is to build on the success achieved at cadet and junior level and carry it forward into senior competition.

Rashad Nabiyev stressed that the Federation’s key priorities remain unchanged, noting that alongside sporting results, commitment to the core values of judo, including discipline and respect, is of great importance. He encouraged the judoka not to be satisfied with their current achievements, to continue working on their development, and to place importance on education alongside their sporting careers.

During the meeting, Rashad Nabiyev also spoke individually with the athletes and discussed their training process and future goals.

Azerbaijan concluded the Cadet World Judo Championships with one gold and one silver medal, finishing fifth overall among 59 participating countries. The junior national team completed the European Championships with three gold and two bronze medals, placing second overall among 44 countries and first in the men’s standings.
