Azerbaijan Claims Four Medals at Special Olympics Open Judo Tournament

Azerbaijani athletes won four medals at the Special Olympics Open Judo Tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Among the members of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation’s adaptive judo group, Sadiq Nazirov (G-2) claimed a silver medal, while Adila Niftaliyeva (G-24) and Yusif Nasirli (G-7) earned bronze medals. The event marked the first international tournament experience for all three judoka.

Another member of the Azerbaijan team, Kamran Guliyev (G-10), outperformed all his opponents to claim the gold medal.

Azerbaijan therefore concluded the tournament with four medals — one gold, one silver and two bronze.

Adaptive judo enables people with special needs to practise judo in accordance with their individual abilities and supports their social integration through sport.
