Azerbaijan Claims Four Medals on Opening Day of Veterans World Championships
The Veterans World Judo Championships have begun in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the opening day of competition, Azerbaijan won one gold and three bronze medals in the M1 age category.
Competing in the -100 kg category, Mammadali Mehdiyev defeated all his opponents to become world champion.
Abulfat Ismayilov (-60 kg), Mahir Abbasov (-81 kg) and Joshgun Abdullayev (-90 kg) claimed bronze medals.
Azerbaijan is represented by 30 judoka at the World Championships.
