Azerbaijan Concludes Veterans World Championships with 11 Medals

Azerbaijan’s veteran judoka have concluded their campaign at the Veterans World Judo Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the fourth day of competition, the team added two more bronze medals. Azer Asgarov (-100 kg) finished third in the M7 age category, while Farhad Rajabli (-90 kg) claimed bronze in the M8 category.

Earlier, Mammadali Mehdiyev (-100 kg), Babek Hajiyev (-60 kg) and Movlud Miraliyev (-100 kg) won gold medals, while Abulfat Ismayilov (-60 kg), Mahir Abbasov (-81 kg), Joshgun Abdullayev (-90 kg), Shikhrajab Shikhmuradov and Ahmad Mammadov (both -73 kg), and Anar Aghayev (-90 kg) earned bronze.

Azerbaijan therefore concluded the World Championships with a total of 11 medals — three gold and eight bronze — finishing seventh in the men’s medal standings among 65 participating countries.
