On 12 March 2026, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Special Olympics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Judo Federation.

The main purpose of the memorandum is to support the rehabilitation and physical and psychological development of persons with intellectual disabilities through adaptive judo, create an accessible and healthy environment for athletes, and promote the development of inclusive sport.

Under the document, the parties will cooperate in the development of adaptive judo in the country, the involvement of persons with intellectual disabilities in this sport, and the implementation of joint projects and programmes. In addition, the memorandum предусматривает the organisation of awareness-raising events, training courses and seminars, as well as the creation of professional development opportunities for coaches and specialists.

The memorandum was signed by Rashad Rasullu, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, and Movlud Miraliyev, President of the Special Olympics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As part of the event, an adaptive judo tournament was also held.
