October 28 is World Judo Day. To present this significant occasion to the wider public, the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF) organized a “City Tour” along the capital’s main streets and avenues with a specially branded bus. During the tour, young judoka met residents at various locations across the city, congratulated them on World Judo Day, and took commemorative photos.

The project served to promote the values of judo — respect, courage, and friendship — to a broader audience, thereby contributing to the sport’s growing popularity in our country.

October 28 is also the birthday of Jigoro Kano, the founder of judo. Judo is a system through which everyone can unlock their true potential and discover themselves.

Interest in judo is rapidly increasing in Azerbaijan. In recent years, our athletes have raised our nation’s flag to the highest peaks at the most prestigious arenas. The victories of our Olympic and world champions, such as Hidayat Heydarov and Zelim Kotsoyev, have brought great joy to the entire country.

The ACF’s systematic work underpins these achievements. Expanding the reach of judo across the regions, opening new training centers, running educational campaigns for schoolchildren, implementing professional development programs for coaches and referees, and delivering inclusive and mass-participation projects all make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of judo in Azerbaijan.
