Azerbaijan Top Total Medal Table at Cadet European Championships
The Azerbaijan national team concluded the individual competition at the Cadet European Judo Championships in Spain with a total of 10 medals.
On the third day of the continental championships, three more Azerbaijani judoka reached the podium. Omar Akhundov (-90 kg) claimed silver after losing to Lithuania's Tajus Babaicenko in the final. In the -81 kg category, Aykhan Hasanli and Yagub Mammadov both secured bronze medals.
Earlier in the championships, Zahra Guliyeva (-40 kg) and Nihad Aghayev (-50 kg) won gold medals, Farid Rzazade (-50 kg) and Sadiq Mammadov (-73 kg) claimed silver, while Ibrahim Talibov (-55 kg), Konul Eyvazli (-48 kg) and Ilkin Garayev (-66 kg) earned bronze.
Overall, Azerbaijan finished with 2 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals, placing second in the medal standings by medal quality and first in total medals among 43 participating nations.
The championships will conclude tomorrow with the mixed team event. Azerbaijan will face Czechia in the round of 16.
