Boys’ Team Takes First as Azerbaijan Win 13 Medals in Berlin
On 26 April, the Cadet European Judo Cup held in Berlin, the capital of Germany, came to an end. On the final day of competition, our judoka won 6 medals — 3 silver and 3 bronze.
Sadiq Mammadov (-73 kg), Aykhan Hasanli (-81 kg) and Omar Akhundov (-90 kg) finished in second place and claimed silver medals. Amin Mehdiyev, Yagub Mammadov (both -81 kg) and Ruslan Kazimov (+90 kg) were awarded bronze medals.
It should be recalled that earlier Nihad Aghayev (-50 kg) and Farid Khudiyev (-55 kg) won gold medals, Ibrahim Talibov (-55 kg) and Sunay Salamova (-40 kg) claimed silver, while Ilkin Garayev (-66 kg), Parvin Sevkhanli (-44 kg) and Narmin Agamirzazade (-52 kg) secured bronze medals.
As a result, with a total of 2 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals, the Azerbaijan national team finished the tournament in third place in the overall team standings among 35 countries. In the boys’ competition, our team took first place.
