Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports Visit AJF
On 18 June 2026, members of the Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports visited the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (AJF) to learn more about the Federation's activities, ongoing projects and future development plans.
The meeting was attended by Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament Shahin Ismayilov, Deputy Chair and Member of Parliament Konul Nurullayeva, Committee members and Members of Parliament Goydaniz Gahramanov and Mahir Suleymanli, AJF Executive Vice President Rashad Rasulov, and Advisor to the AJF President Natiq Baghirov.
During the meeting, the delegation received a comprehensive presentation on the institutional reforms implemented by the Federation in recent years, its strategic development priorities and the results achieved. Particular attention was given to initiatives aimed at increasing grassroots participation in judo, expanding activities across the regions, developing modern sports infrastructure and strengthening the education and development of coaches, referees and other sports professionals.
The guests were also informed about Azerbaijan's recent achievements on the international judo stage, the performances of the national teams, talent development programmes for young athletes and the Federation's educational initiatives. Discussions also covered AJF's cooperation with international sports organisations, Azerbaijan's role as host of major international judo events and the ongoing preparations for future competitions.
The meeting included an exchange of views on the future development of sports legislation in Azerbaijan, opportunities to further improve the existing legal framework, strengthen the work of sports federations and encourage greater youth participation in sport. The participants underlined the importance of state support, effective governance, modern legal mechanisms and close cooperation among relevant institutions in ensuring the sustainable development of sport.
The meeting concluded in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, with both sides expressing their commitment to continuing cooperation, implementing best practices and developing joint initiatives for the advancement of Azerbaijani sport, particularly judo.
Following the meeting, the parliamentary delegation visited the National Teams Training Centre, where they were introduced to the facilities available for the national squads. The guests received detailed information about the athletes' training environment, training halls, recovery and medical services, as well as the modern infrastructure supporting elite-level preparation. The delegation highly appreciated the facilities and highlighted the importance of such projects for the continued development of sport in Azerbaijan.
