Silver for Vusal, Bronze for Omar at the Linz Grand Prix
On the second day of the Judo Grand Prix held in Linz, Austria, our national team added two more medals to its tally.
Both medals came in the -81 kg weight category. Vusal Qalandarzade claimed silver, while Omar Rajabli secured bronze. Vusal lost in the final — where he picked up an injury — to Adilet Almata (Kazakhstan). Omar defeated Finland’s Eetu Ihamaki in the bronze-medal contest.
It should be noted that yesterday Ruslan Pashayev (-66 kg) won the title.
With a full set of medals, Azerbaijan currently ranks third in the overall team standings and first in the men’s standings among 59 countries.
