The U23 European Judo Championships have concluded in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova.

On the second day of competition, Team Azerbaijan secured a trio of medals. Competing in the +100 kg category, Kenan Nasibov defeated all his opponents to claim the continental title. Ömər Rəcəbli (-81 kg) won silver, while Aslan Kotsoyev (-90 kg) earned bronze.

On the opening day, Islam Rahimov (-66 kg) had already captured the gold medal.

Notably, this marks the first time in our judo history that Azerbaijani athletes have won U23 European titles in both the -66 kg and +100 kg categories.

In total, Azerbaijan finished with four medals—2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze—and took first place in both the overall team standings and the men’s standings. Although only our men’s team competed, the national squad topped a field of 37 countries. The first-place trophy was accepted by the men’s national team’s senior coach, Slavko Tekić.
