Ushangi Kokauri wins bronze at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam
The Grand Slam tournament held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, has come to an end.
Our national team claimed one medal at the event, which is part of the World Judo Tour. On the final day of competition, Ushangi Kokauri, competing in the +100 kg category, won bronze. Our judoka defeated Dutch representative Jur Spijkers by ippon in the decisive contest to step onto the podium.
Other members of our team — Ahmad Yusifov (-60 kg), Murad Fatiyev (-90 kg) and Jamal Gamzatkhanov (+100 kg) — finished the tournament in 5th place. It should be noted that Murad Fatiyev, who won his first three contests, was unable to continue in the semi-final due to injury.
