Azerbaijani judokas conclude European Championships with five medals
The Azerbaijani national judo team finished the Senior European Championships held in Podgorica, Montenegro, with a total of five medals — one silver and four bronze.
Zelim Kotsoyev won silver in the -100 kg category, while Ahmad Yusifov (-60 kg), Rashid Mammadaliyev (-73 kg), Zelim Tckaev (-81 kg), and Murad Fatiyev (-90 kg) each secured bronze medals.
Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg) finished fifth, and Turan Bayramov (-60 kg) placed seventh. The national team also participated in the mixed team event.
In the final standings based on medal value, Azerbaijan ranked 10th overall among 47 countries and 5th in the men's team ranking.
It is worth noting that, except for Zelim Kotsoyev, all of Azerbaijan’s medalists stood on the podium at the senior European Championships for the first time in their careers. For the first time in the country’s judo history, Azerbaijani male judokas earned medals in five different weight categories at a single European Championships.
A total of 15 judokas (9 men and 6 women) represented Azerbaijan across 12 weight categories at the tournament.
