EJU Honors Richard Trautmann

Richard Trautmann, Head Coach and Performance Director of the Azerbaijan men’s national judo team, has shared his thoughts on the incredible achievements the team achieved at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. The German coach made these remarks during a press conference dedicated to the European Judo Championships in Podgorica, Montenegro.

He said, “When I first started, it wasn’t easy; everything was different from what I was used to. However, over time we managed to form a strong team moving in the same direction, with big dreams and tremendous potential. We just needed to find the right athletes and give them a clear plan and a sense of hope. This approach paid off in Paris. Now the next goal is to elevate our women’s team to the same strong level as the men’s.”

After the press conference, European Judo Union (EJU) President László Tóth presented Richard Trautmann with a special commemorative plaque in recognition of his tireless efforts, dedication to his work, and achievements in judo.
