Youth Olympic Champion Ibrahim Talibov Returns to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani judoka Ibrahim Talibov, who won a gold medal at the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, has returned home.

He arrived in Baku alongside Emin Isgandarov, head coach of the cadet boys' national team, and team doctor Shahin Mammadov.

A welcoming ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, attended by representatives of the National Olympic Committee and Azerbaijan Judo Federation, coaches, members of the media and the sports community.

Ibrahim Talibov claimed the Youth Olympic title in the -55 kg weight category after winning all his contests. With this achievement, he became the second Azerbaijani judoka to win gold at the Summer Youth Olympic Games.

Previously, Vugar Talibov (-66 kg) secured gold at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, while Natig Gurbanli (-55 kg) and Leyla Aliyeva (-44 kg) earned silver medals at the 2014 edition in Nanjing.

These results bring Azerbaijan's total medal tally in judo at the Summer Youth Olympic Games to four.
